A display turntable is a motorized rotator that turns a product, sign or display so it is seen from every angle. Turntables cost $59 to $1,335 and carry 8 lbs to 800 lbs depending on model. A battery powered unit for small products is $59; a 650 lb capacity floor rotator is $886.
Turntables are specified by capacity and display size, not by price, and getting that wrong is how people end up with a motor that stalls under a product. This guide lists the real load ratings, maximum display sizes and prices across the range, for floor rotators, hanging rotators and sign spinners.

How to pick a turntable: capacity first
Match the turntable to the weight of what sits on it, then to the footprint. A unit rated to 8 lbs suits jewellery, watches and sunglasses on a 1 ft square. A 150 lb unit handles a small appliance. Vehicles, machinery and full displays need the 400 to 800 lb range.
Two numbers appear on every spec sheet, and they are not the same thing:
- Compressive weight capacity. What the turntable carries when the load sits on top of it. This is the number for floor rotators.
- Hanging weight capacity. What it carries suspended below. Some units do both at different ratings, and some do only one.
The B-8, for example, is explicitly not for hanging applications. An IG-2 carries 150 lbs compressive but 100 lbs hanging. Check which number applies to your setup before ordering.
Capacity by use case
| What you are turning | Capacity needed | From |
|---|---|---|
| Jewellery, watches, sunglasses | 8 lbs | $59 |
| Signs and lightweight graphics | 6 to 10 lbs hanging | $140 |
| Small appliances, electronics | 50 to 150 lbs | $414 |
| Furniture, large product | 300 to 400 lbs | $561 |
| Machinery, vehicles, full displays | 600 to 800 lbs | $886 |
Floor rotators, hanging rotators and sign spinners
Floor turntables
The product sits on the platform. Capacities from 8 lbs to 800 lbs, prices $59 to $1,242. These are what most people mean by a display turntable, used in showrooms, trade show booths and retail windows.
Hanging rotators
Suspended from the ceiling or a truss, turning a sign or a hanging display below. An M-6 at $140 carries 6 lbs on a 2 ft diameter, an M-10 at $231 carries 10 lbs on 3 ft, an M-40 at $529 carries 40 lbs on 5 ft, and an IG-5 hanging at $752 carries 300 lbs on 15 ft diameter.
Diameter matters as much as weight here. A sign that is light but wide puts leverage on the motor that a weight rating alone does not describe.
Sign rotators
Smaller units turning flat signage rather than product. The M-2 at $126 handles a 0.5 ft square, the IR-20 at $198 a 2 ft square.

Safety and practical notes
- Torque relief clutch. Better units slip harmlessly if the rotation is obstructed, protecting both the motor and anyone who reaches in. The B-8 has one, which matters for a unit at hand height in a retail setting.
- Louvered covers are available separately, $49 to $149 depending on model, to hide the mechanism.
- Power. Battery powered units go anywhere. Mains powered units need an electrical drop at a trade show, ordered separately from the show contractor.
- Weight of the turntable itself. Heavy capacity models are heavy objects: an IR-650 weighs 655 lbs, an IR-800 weighs 820 lbs. That is freight, not parcel.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a display turntable cost?
Display turntables cost $59 to $1,335. Battery powered units for small products are $59 to $68, mid range floor rotators $414 to $758, and heavy capacity models carrying 600 to 800 lbs run $1,051 to $1,335.
What weight can a display turntable hold?
From 8 lbs to 800 lbs depending on model. A B-8 battery unit carries 8 lbs on a 1 ft square, an IG-2 carries 150 lbs, an IG-5 carries 400 lbs, and IR-800 and TS-800 models carry 800 lbs on a 7 ft square.
What is the difference between compressive and hanging capacity?
Compressive capacity is what the turntable carries sitting on top of it; hanging capacity is what it carries suspended below. They differ on the same unit: an IG-2 carries 150 lbs compressive but 100 lbs hanging. Some units, including the B-8, are not rated for hanging at all.
What is a hanging rotator?
A motorized rotator suspended from a ceiling or truss that turns a sign or display below it. An M-6 at $140 carries 6 lbs on a 2 ft diameter; an M-40 at $529 carries 40 lbs on 5 ft; an IG-5 hanging at $752 handles 300 lbs on a 15 ft diameter.
Do display turntables need mains power?
Not all. B-8 units are battery powered and work anywhere. Larger rotators run on mains power, which at a trade show means ordering an electrical drop from the show contractor separately from the booth space.
What size display fits on a turntable?
Each model lists a maximum recommended display size, from 0.5 ft x 0.5 ft on an M-2 up to 7 ft x 7 ft on an IR-800. Footprint matters as much as weight, because an oversized display puts leverage on the motor that a weight rating alone does not cover.
Is there a safety mechanism if something blocks the turntable?
Better units have a torque relief clutch that slips harmlessly when rotation is obstructed, preventing injury to people nearby and damage to the motor. The B-8 battery turntable includes one.
How long does production take?
Standard production time is 3 business days. Transit time is additional and depends on destination and shipping method.
