Pop Up Displays for Trade Shows

Pop Up Displays for Trade Shows: Types, Prices and Weights

A pop up display is a collapsible frame that expands into a full trade show backwall, with the graphic usually staying attached between shows. Complete pop up displays cost $208 to $4,757 depending on size and frame type. A standard 10-foot pop up trade show display costs $208 to $873 and weighs 14 to 93 lbs.

Pop up displays are the most widely used format on any trade show floor, and the most inconsistently named. The same product is sold as a pop up stand, a popup display, an exhibition stand and a fabric backwall. This guide covers what they actually cost, what they weigh, how the frame types differ, and which size fits which booth.

How much does a pop up display cost?

Pop up displays cost $208 to $4,757 for a complete unit with graphics. A 10-foot fabric pop up trade show display starts at $208, an 8-foot at $171, and a 20-foot at $1,110. Frame type matters more than size: fabric popups run $171–$591 while scissor-frame systems reach $4,757.

System Price range Weight Notes
Zoom $10 – $409 2–92 lbs Entry-level, widest range
RPL fabric pop up $32 – $525 1–72 lbs Cheapest full 10 ft at $208
Ready Pop $54 – $1,209 2–47 lbs Graphics stay attached
OneFabric $171 – $371 20–30 lbs Single seamless fabric skin
Xclaim fabric popup $232 – $591 8–24 lbs Magnetic, push-fit, lightest
Hopup $259 – $1,103 7–100 lbs Straight and curved
Coyote $481 – $4,757 36–211 lbs Scissor frame, serpentine options
Embrace push-fit $721 – $1,829 7–28 lbs Light for its price band

Check whether a listing is a complete kit or hardware only before comparing. A 10-foot Coyote serpentine frame is $684 as a hardware package, with graphics priced separately — that is not the same object as a $208 RPL kit that arrives ready to stand up.

Types of pop up displays

There are two main frame types. Fabric popups use a collapsible frame with a stretch fabric graphic that stays pre-attached, so setup is one motion. Scissor-frame popups use an expanding lattice with separate graphic panels or magnetic bars, which allows larger and curved configurations but takes longer and weighs more.

Fabric pop up displays

The graphic never comes off. An Xclaim 10-foot kit uses a fully magnetic collapsible frame with magnetic linking connectors, push-fit graphic attachment and pre-attached stretch fabric, packing into a soft case with a shoulder strap at 14 lbs. A 10ft × 8ft RPL fabric pop up display is $208 at 31 lbs and assembles to 118"W × 89"H × 12"D.

This is what most people now mean by a pop up trade show display. Nothing to align, nothing to clip on, and no panels to scratch in transit.

Scissor-frame pop up stands

The older, larger format. Coyote frames expand into straight, curved and serpentine shapes and scale to 20 feet, but a 10-foot serpentine frame weighs 93 lbs and the 20-foot configurations run 171 to 211 lbs. Prices reach $4,757 for the largest kits.

Choose this when you need a shape a fabric popup cannot make — particularly serpentine walls — or when the display doubles as a permanent showroom fixture.

Straight, curved and serpentine

Straight walls maximise usable graphic area and read best from directly in front. Curved walls soften the booth and pull the eye in from the aisle, at the cost of about 6 to 17 extra inches of depth. Serpentine walls create two shallow pockets so two conversations can run without blocking each other.

Pop up stands and exhibition stands: what size do you need?

Match the pop up stand to the booth: 8-foot displays for tabletop and small inline spaces, 10-foot for a standard 10x10 booth, and 20-foot for a 10x20. Eight-foot pop up exhibition stands run $171–$4,757, 10-foot $208–$1,568 and 20-foot $1,110–$4,757.

Width Price range Weight Fits
8 ft $171 – $4,757 8–211 lbs Small inline, tabletop
10 ft $208 – $1,568 8–93 lbs Standard 10x10 booth
20 ft $1,110 – $4,757 171–211 lbs 10x20 inline booth

Real assembled dimensions from common 10-foot models: an RPL fabric pop up is 118"W × 89"H × 12"D at $208; a OneFabric straight is 118" wide at $371 and 30 lbs; an Xclaim 6-quad pyramid is 124.25"W × 83.51"H × 12.8"D at $462 and only 14 lbs; a Hopup straight reaches 119" high at $371.

Height matters as much as width. Most inline booths cap display height at 8 feet, so check the exhibitor manual before buying a 119-inch-tall backwall.

How much do pop up displays weigh?

Complete pop up displays weigh 8 to 211 lbs. Fabric popups are the lightest at 8 to 41 lbs; a 10-foot Xclaim kit is 14 lbs. Scissor-frame systems run 36 to 211 lbs. Because show drayage is billed by hundredweight, a 14 lb display and a 93 lb display in the same booth size cost very differently to install.

Two exhibitors can buy 10-foot pop up displays at similar prices and end up with a sevenfold difference in weight. If you fly to shows or set up without help, weight is the specification to sort by first.

Pop up vs tension fabric vs SEG

Pop up displays use a collapsible frame with attached graphics. Tension fabric displays stretch a printed skin over a tube frame. SEG systems use silicone edge graphics pressed into an aluminum extrusion groove. Pop ups are fastest and cheapest; SEG is the most premium and the most reconfigurable.

The three overlap in the middle of the market, and several products here — Hopup, Embrace, Xclaim — sit in more than one category depending on how you define it. We compare them side by side in our guide to pop up vs tension fabric vs SEG displays, and cover SEG specifically in what SEG lightbox displays are.

If reconfigurability across booth sizes matters, see our comparison of modular display systems for 10x10 booths — pop ups are portable, but most are fixed-size.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a pop up display cost?

Pop up displays cost $208 to $4,757 for a complete unit with graphics. A 10-foot fabric pop up trade show display starts at $208, an 8-foot at $171 and a 20-foot at $1,110. Fabric popup systems run $171–$591; scissor-frame systems reach $4,757.

What is a pop up display?

A pop up display is a collapsible frame that expands into a trade show backwall, with the graphic usually staying attached to the frame between shows. It packs into a soft case or hard case and assembles without tools in one to two minutes.

How much does a pop up display weigh?

Between 8 and 211 lbs. Fabric popups are lightest at 8 to 41 lbs — a 10-foot Xclaim kit is 14 lbs. Scissor-frame systems run 36 to 211 lbs. Weight matters because show drayage is billed by hundredweight.

What size pop up display do I need for a 10x10 booth?

A 10-foot wide display. These run $208 to $1,568 and weigh 8 to 93 lbs. Check the height limit in your exhibitor manual first: most inline booths cap displays at 8 feet, and some pop up backwalls reach 119 inches.

Do pop up display graphics stay attached to the frame?

On fabric systems, yes. Xclaim and Ready Pop use pre-attached stretch fabric graphics that stay on the frame between shows, which is why setup takes one motion. Scissor-frame systems generally use separate graphic panels or magnetic bars that attach on site.

What is the difference between a pop up display and a pop up stand?

Nothing consistent. The terms are used interchangeably across the industry, along with popup display, pop up exhibition stand and fabric backwall. Compare on frame type, assembled width, height and weight rather than on the product name.

How long does a pop up display take to set up?

Fabric popups assemble in one to two minutes without tools, because the graphic is already attached and magnetic connectors lock the frame. Scissor-frame systems with separate graphic panels take longer, particularly in larger and curved configurations.

How long does production take?

Standard production time is 3 business days. Transit time is additional and depends on destination and shipping method.
